Obituary of Anthony O. LaGreca
Anthony O. LaGreca, age 93, died on Thursday, January, 27, 2011 at Runnell's Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights. He was born in Brooklyn and had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Bridgewater in 1965.
Mr. LaGreca worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard during World War II working on the battleships, the Missouri, Iowa and the North Carolina.
From 1947 to 1982 he was a member of the Boilermakers Union, Local 28 in Bayonne.
He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus , Westfield Council 1711 and a member of the Fourth Degree.
Mr. LaGreca loved gardening, traveling and working around his home. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Muriel Reichers LaGreca; his sons, Joseph LaGreca and his wife Irene of Green Brook and John LaGreca and his partner, Mary Liebau of Green Brook; his daughter, Linda Kimler and her husband, Stephen of Chatham; his grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Jason, Kevin, Adam and Dylan and his great-grandchildren, Kyle and Rain Marie.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, January 31st at 9:00 a.m at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251Denville, NJ 07834
