Obituary of Anna Palasits
Anna Palasits of Watchung died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, after a three-year battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday February 5th at 12:00 noon at St. Mary's Stony Hill RC Church, 225 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Mass will be followed by a celebration of Anna's life. Interment will be private.
Born in Poland, Anna and her family spent their World War II years in various camps in Siberia, Persia and Africa. After the war they spent four years in England, in a refugee camp, before immigrating to Elizabeth, NJ in 1952.
After graduating from Battin High School, Anna spent 31 years with the Elizabethtown Water Company, retiring as an Executive Secretary in 2000.
Mrs. Palasits was predeceased by her parents, Jan and Apolonia Fydryszewski, her husband Charles Walsh, and brother Zygmunt and his wife Ludmila.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Palasits; daughters Eva Patrus-Burrows and Theresa Tamchin; step-daughters Judith A. Stolz, Patricia M. Haelsig, Irene M. Rynar and Jennifer B. Biro; grandchildren Steven Burrows, Sara Burrows and Christina Tamchin and nine step-grandchildren; and her sister Teodora and her husband Edmund Szamborski.
Contributions to the Center of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 in Anna's name would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
