Obituary of Robert William Buhot

Bricktownship: Robert William Buhot passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011, he was 85. Born February 26, 1925 in Plainfield, he resided in Watchung and North Plainfield before moving to Brick in 1973. Bob was a Merchant Marine who served in the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean - Middle East War Zones during WWII. Bob was employed by the GS Parkway Commission as a toll collector at the Asbury Park plaza, where he was known as "Parkway Bob". Prior to this, he owned the Arnold Theatre in Point Pleasant Beach, where he was known as "Movie Bob". During his retirement, Bob shared his candy with all the beautiful women in the shore area, and then acquired his nickname "The Candyman" Bob enjoyed life. He loved to dance, kick up his heels and play his harmonica, he would often accompany area bands with his famous rendition of "You are my sunshine". He always found ways to make people smile. He will truly be missed. Surviving are his son, Robert Buhot of Lebanon Township; his daughter, Debra Buhot of Watchung; two sisters, Betty Higginson of Deal and Peggy Clayton of Bayhead. His brother Alden "Buddy" Buhot predeceased him last month. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm followed by a 1:00 pm Service at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.
