Obituary of Thomas R. McKee, Sr.

Thomas R. McKee, Sr., age 95, died on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Dover General Hospital in Dover. He was born in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1932. He lived in North Plainfield from 1950 to 2007 when he moved to Glen Gardner. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1938. Prior to his retirement in 1979, he was an Associate Personnel Manager for the Prudential Insurance Company for 43 years. Mr. McKee served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1945. He was discharged as a Captain, Medical Administrative Corps. During his time in North Plainfield, he was active in civic affairs, serving on the Recreation Commission, the Board of Health and the Board of Adjustment. Mr. McKee is predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Janice McKee in 2007. Surviving are his sons, Thomas R. McKee, Jr. and his wife Heidi of Glen Gardner and Steven W. McKee and his wife, Marilyn of Southbury, CT; his grandchildren, Colin R. and Ian B. McKee of Glen Gardner and Megan K. and Daniel S. McKee of Southbury, CT. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 11:30 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 to 11 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield.
