Obituary of Joseph John Kubasky
Those of you who know Joe, know that he was an amazing soul. Joe was a loving, nurturing husband as well as a positive, patient and extremely talented man. He was strong and brave throughout his battle with cancer.
Joe suffered from a rare salivary gland cancer called Acinic Cell Carcinoma. Unfortunately, Joe's was a very rare cancer that affected less than 1% of the population.
Acinic Cell Carcinoma, unfortunately, is not the only rare cancer that suffers from lack of research and funding. Many rare cancers are drastically underfunded, leaving patients like Joe with limited treatment options.
Memorial Sloan Kettering has a fund that supports Rare Cancer Research as a whole. This fund has raised $31.5 million just for rare cancer research since 2007.
I know that Joe would want to see more being done to cure rare cancers like his and save the lives of others.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center by check at MSKCC, Attn: Stephanie Rigione, 633 Third Avenue, 28th Floor, NY, NY 10017 or online.
