Obituary of Matt Melillo

Matt Melillo, age 84, died on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park. Born in Harrison, he resided in Warren for 44 years before moving to Basking Ridge 14 years ago. Matt served in the Navy during World War II. Prior to retiring in 1987, he was employed as a sprinkler fitter with the National Automatic Sprinkler Fitters Union, Local 696 for over 50 years. A member of Our Lady of the Mount RC Church, he was a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 11409, Warren. He was a member of VFW Post #145 of South River, American Legion Post #1000 of Trenton and was an avid golfer in his spare time. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph L. and Irene Bannon Melillo and his son, Matthew Bruce Melillo. Surviving are his loving wife, Angela Mostello Melillo; sons, Gary, Thomas and Mark Melillo; grandchildren, Michael, Christiana Joy Bowles, Daniel, Nicholas, Renee, John, Andrew, Christopher and Ryan Melillo and a great-grandson, Landon Bowles. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 12th at 9:00 am from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Visitation will be on Friday, March 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
