Obituary of Marie Gebauer

Marie Gebauer, age 91, died Sunday March 13, 2011 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Kostentahl, Germany, she immigrated to the US in 1957, residing in Warren before moving to North Plainfield 40 years ago. Marie was a knitter for Gebauer Knitting Mills in Warren for 25 years. She then worked for Unisys in Warren for15 years. Marie was a member of St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the North Plainfield Senior Citizens, in her spare time she enjoyed knitting, having made many lap blankets for nursing home residents. Her husband Bernhard Gebauer predeceased her in 2004. Surviving are a son, Gerhard Gebauer and his wife, Carol of Springfield; a sister, Gertrude Habbner of Germany; two grandchildren, Dr. Gregory Gebauer and his wife, Amy of Punta Gorda, FL and Adam Gebauer of Portland, ME and three great grandchildren, Brandon, Laura and Madelyn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 9:00 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield and entombment at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Springfield First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 247, Springfield, NJ 07081-0247 would be greatly appreciated.
