Obituary of Doris Chabak
Warren: Doris Sullivan Chabak, 89, was welcomed into eternal life on Thursday, March 24, 2011. She was born in Jersey City and had lived in Lyndhurst and Plainfield before moving to Warren over 40 years ago.
Mrs. Chabak graduated from Plainfield high School. She began her work career at New Jersey Bell Telephone in Newark, NJ. She was married on April 1, 1945 to Joseph Robert Chabak at St. Mary's Church in Plainfield. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church and a past communicant of St. Mary's Church in Plainfield. She was a very active member of the Catholic Women's Club in Plainfield and was a volunteer at TWIGS at Muhlenberg Hospital. Doris was also an active Cub Scout Leader. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and trips to Atlantic City. Prior to her retirement, she was the manager of Queen City Savings and Loan, which eventually became Raritan Savings and Loan.
Mrs. Chabak is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Robert Chabak, her son, David J. Chabak, her son-in-law, Sylvio J. Marquis and her brother Edward M. Sullivan.
Surviving are her son, Robert Chabak of Normandy Beach; her daughter Joanne Marquis of Bound Brook; her sister Barbara Hoffman of Watchung and her grandchildren, Darin Joseph Marquis, Jennifer Ann Dursee, Amy Elizabeth Collins and Kelsey C. Stecklow. She is also survived by her 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of the Mount Church. Interment will be at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm. Memorial donations may be made in her loving memory to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 200 Lanidex Plaza, Suite 2101, Parsippany, NJ 07054. Please include Doris's name in the memo section.
