Obituary of Marcelino F Garcia

Watchung: Marcelino F. Garcia, age 63, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011 at his home in Watchung. Mr. Garcia was born in Portugal and had resided in Watchung since 1989. Mr. Garcia began his career in the United States working for the Portuguese Airline TAP. He later opened his own travel and insurance agency, then branched out into other ventures. Through the years Mr. Garcia had started many businesses such as a real estate and construction company and pastry shops. He is most recently known for the Riviera Bakeries in both Kearny and Newark, and Garcia Agency in Newark. He enjoyed traveling with his family to his homes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and in Algarve, Portugal. He was an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Maria de Lurdes Garcia; two daughters Peggy Sopko and her husband George of Watchung and Deborah Garcia of Watchung; his mother Teresa Garcia, a brother Joaquim Garcia, and a sister Maria Joao Stone. He is also survived by two grandchildren Sebastian and Natasha. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ with a funeral service at 8pm.
