Obituary of Michelina V. Pittenger

Michelina V. Pittenger, age 77 died on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Summit and was raised in Millburn and in 1957 moved to Watchung. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Summit Trust Bank before becoming a full time wife and mother residing in Watchung in the home she and her husband Bob built. Mickey was an avid walker who could be seen daily walking around Watchung Lake. She was very active in her community from the Election Board to many functions with the town's Recreation Department. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Stony Hill Church in Watchung and was a member of their Rosary Altar Society. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert in 2010. Surviving are her sons, Robert and his wife Betty Ann of North Plainfield and David and his wife Kimberly of Branchburg; her daughter, Janet George and her husband John of South Plainfield; her grandchildren, Nicole, John, Michael, Megan, Robert and Rachel. She was also a great-grandmother. Also surviving are her brother, Joseph Balboa of Millburn and her sister, Catherine Partilla of Branchburg. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, April 9th at 8:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung followed by a 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church. Interment will be at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, 225 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ 07069 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.
