Obituary of Pedro P. Martins

Pedro Peres Martins, age 67, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013 at The Father Hudson House, Center for Hope Hospice in Elizabeth. Born and raised in Brazil, he served 14 years in the Brazilian Military and moved to the United States in the late 1990's. Pedro was an accomplished hair stylist and owned his own salon for five years in Newark, Wonderful Hair. He worked for many years at prestigious salons in Manhattan and New Jersey. He was very proud of becoming a United States citizen in 2010. Pedro was in the choir at Canal Walk and recently wrote and self-published a book about his life. Surviving are his beloved partner of 15 years, Gerald Goldberg; his children, Marc Goldberg and his partner, Paul Rodgers and Lori Rofman and her husband, Rob and their daughter, Dinah; his four brothers and five sisters; and many friends and clients. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by everyone. Memorial contributions can be made to Father Hudson House, Center For Hope Hospice, 111 DeHart Place, Elizabeth, NJ 07202. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater.
