Obituary of Frances Mattiassi

Frances (Salpietro) Mattiassi, age 77, died on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Brooklyn, she had resided in Hoboken before moving to Warren in 1979. Frances was a Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, she was an active volunteer in the community, before she retired in the mid 1990's. She volunteered with the senior citizens at Our Lady of the Mount Church and the Lady's Auxiliary of the Mt. Horeb Volunteer Fire Department both in Warren. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Jenny (Messana) Salpietro and brother Anthony Salpietro. Surviving is her loving husband of fifty-one years Ermenegildo Mattiassi; her son Joseph Mattiassi and his wife Elizabeth and their children Michael and Amanda of Watchung. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29th at 9:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
