Obituary of Meredith G. Brody

Meredith Gayle Brody, 70, died at her home in Watchung on Monday, May 9, 2011. Born to the late William G. and Myrtle Vail Mueller on September 25, 1940 in Newark, she grew up in Maplewood and Ocean Grove. Meredith graduated from Star of the Sea Academy, Long Branch in 1958, attended Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA and received a BA in Education from Monmouth University of New Jersey in 1962. She married Roger S. Brody in 1961,and they lived together in Scotch Plains before relocating to Watchung in 1991. Meredith was a grammar school special education mathematics teacher for 25 years. She taught in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Plainfield school districts and was dedicated to making a difference in the lives of her students. She enjoyed traveling, skiing and was an avid tennis player. She was a great cook and took enormous comfort and pride in her Tibetan Terrier dogs. Meredith was devoted to the well-being and happiness of her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Lisa G. Brody and her husband, Bruce Clark of Bernardsville, Robert S. Brody and his wife, Mary Pat Brody of Wilton, CT and Marc A. Brody and his wife, Stacie Reilly of Princeton; her brother, William Mueller of Laguna Beach, CA and her beloved eight grandchildren. A gathering will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 10 - 11 am followed by an 11 am Memorial Service at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
