Obituary of George Romond

Mr. George Romond, 51, son of the late Robert and Isabella Walker Romond, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Born in Plainfield, he resided in North Plainfield his entire life. A talented mechanic who had the ability to diagnose automobile problems over the phone, George began his career after college at Romond's Garage, Inc. in Plainfield, later becoming co-owner in 1986 until closing the dealership in 2008. He enjoyed driving and restoring antique Jeeps, off-roading, hiking and riding his motorcycle. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Patricia Wares Romond; a son Andrew, and a daughter Carolyn of North Plainfield, and a sister, Isabella Wiggins of Jackson, NJ. Visiting hours will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by Cremation at Somerset Hills Memorial Park.
