Obituary of Thomas W. Norris
Thomas W. Norris, age 78, died on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at home after a long illness. Born in Newton, Massachusetts to Elizabeth Ann and Thomas E. Norris, Mr. Norris resided in Warren for 66 years. Mr. Norris was a graduate of North Plainfield High School and attended Union Junior College.
Mr. Norris was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked at Mack Motors until they ceased operations in Plainfield. He then worked for the NJDOT as a resident engineer supervising highway and bridge construction for 32 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Beverly; his son, Thomas K. of Branchburg, NJ; daughters; Diane Ragard of Martinsville, NJ and Leslie Adams and her husband Steven of Orefield, PA; four grandchildren; Paul and Denise Ragard, James and Emma Adams. He is also survived by his two sisters, Deborah Crouch of Denton, TX and Abigail Stein and her husband Warren of Warren, NJ.
Mr. Norris kept busy with his garden and woodworking. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Warren Township Rescue Squad.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung.
