Obituary of Dr. Murray Shuser
Dr. Murray Shuser, age 85, died on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Paterson and had lived in Plainfield before moving to Scotch Plains 49 years ago.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain during the Korean War.
Dr. Shuser received his Bachelor's Degree in Dentistry in 1947 from the Indiana University College of Arts and Science. He received his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from NYU. He was the Chief Resident at Kings County Medical Center. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Dr. Shuser had an oral surgery private practice in Plainfield for 54 years. He was also on the staff at Muhlenberg Hospital.
He enjoyed watching ballet, the opera and traveling. He also loved baseball and college basketball.
Dr. Shuser is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Ulman Shuser; his son, Peter Shuser of Scotch Plains; his daughter, Jane Pavics and her husband, Thomas of Stockton and his granddaughters, Sara and Rebecca.
