So sorry to hear of your Mother's death. She was a very lovely lady. I saw her only recently & thought that she looked great! Wish I could have made it to the service, but am recovering from surgery.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
With sympathy, Carol Memminger

I had the pleasure of meeting Virginia through the Garden State Writers, a group of fellow children's writers. She was unfailingly encouraging, kind and helpful, not only as a colleague but as a friend.
She will be missed by many.

I am so saddened. Virginia was a beautiful person, so giving, so supportive, so self-less. I will always remember her gentle, generous soul.

Virginia was a woman with a generous spirit and an enthusiasm for her work with children. She loved her family deeply and valued her friendships. Her books reflect her interests and her talents. I am thankful to have known Virginia.

So happy to have called her a few weeks ago. A few years when up from MD to NJ, we met for lunch at The Store in Basking Ridge with my sister, Bertha Peery and cousin, Ruth Gorgas. We even got to meet her puppy and reminisce about growing up in Woodbridge. We recall visits to Berkeley Heights and taking trips with her Mom. Our deepest condolences to everyone. She will be missed.

Love of books -- inspiring children to love books -- stories of the plays at "Namers' house" abound. Delightful memories of the bridal shower and wedding rehearsal for Joanne and Scott. Kind, generous, lovely person.
