Obituary of Antonietta Annucci
Antonietta Annucci (nee Pezzano), age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at her home in Warren surrounded by her loving family.
She was the youngest of six children born to Michele and Michelina (Ricciardi) Pezzano in Monteverde, Italy.
Antonietta was the loving wife of the late Raffaele Annucci during which they shared 37 years of a beautiful marriage. She was predeceased by her brothers Vito, Angelo and Rocco Pezzano and her sisters Lucia Pizza and Alessandrina Capobianco.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Talented in the art of hand embroidery and crochet, taught by nuns in her hometown of Monteverde, she truly enjoyed making gifts for her family and friends.
Antonietta and her daughter Christine and son Leonard immigrated to the United States in 1957 to be reunited with her husband who came to the United States in 1954. They settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey to raise their family. She was a daily communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a current and proud member of the organization Le Madre Cristiane.
Since moving to Warren in 1997 to live with her daughter Christine and son-in-law Gerald Salemi and their family, Antonietta has been a parishioner of Our Lady of the Mount Church.
Thanks to an infectious personality, exuberant spirit, caring heart and spirituality, she touched the lives of many beyond her immediate family, turning friends into extended family members. She will be fondly remembered for the unconditional love and devotion she showered upon her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Antonietta is survived by her daughter Christine and son-in-law Gerald Salemi, son Leonard Annucci, daughter Marie and son-in-law James Caprio, daughter Linda and son-in-law Dr. Ralph Russo III.
Twelve loving grandchildren: Michele and Nicholas Amato, Melissa and Jarred Weisfeld, Melanie and David Kriskewic, Michael, Aubrie and Anthony Caprio and Ashley, Ralph IV and Nicholas Russo.
Five adoring great-grandchildren: Damian, Natalie and Justin Amato and twins Evan and Nathan Weisfeld.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Italy and the United States.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
