Obituary of Ollie Mae Penn
Ollie Mae Penn of Plainfield, NJ passed away on Thursday, August 4th in her home. She was 86 years old.
Ollie Mae was born on December 14th, 1924 in Canton, Mississippi to Rosie and Mack Johnson. She moved to Newark, NJ in 1960 where she became a member of the Eastern Stars and was an active member for 25 years,
When time allowed Ollie Mae enjoyed fishing and bowling with her husband and family. Ollie Mae was employed by Remco Toys, Inc. as a Quality Control Inspector and later worked for Bestway Products as Foreman where she later retired in 1985 after 30 years of service.
After retiring, Mrs. Penn spent her time volunteering for the SHARE Food Program in North Plainfield as a secretary for 10 years.
Ollie Mae enjoyed spending time in Atlantic City playing the slot machines. She also enjoyed gardening and attending Sunday services at Mount Olive and Shiloh Baptist Churches located in Plainfield.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and up until her passing, cooked a full southern meal every Sunday.
Ollie Mae is survived by William Penn, Jr. Also surviving is her sister Mabel Southern and four grandchildren Kim, Nadina, Tyesha and LaTasha and 2 great-grandchildren Kayle and Sabria and a host of relatives and friends.
