Obituary of Josefita C. Nepomuceno

Watchung: Josefita C. Nepomuceno, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J. Josie was born in the Philippines on June 5, 1928. She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Zoology and taught High School Biology upon graduation. After her marriage, she dedicated her life as wife and mother to her eight children. Josie, being an educator, emphasized academic achievement for her children, who are all professionals. She raised engineers, physicians, health and computer scientists, and a son with a business degree. She became widowed in 1977 and with the help of her entrepreneurial spirit, owned and managed a successful Bakery Shop. In 1985, Josie migrated to the United States to be close to her children and to become a loving grandmother to her thirteen grandchildren, and her two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nepomuceno is predeceased by her husband, Francisco, Jr. and her brother Vivencio Chiong. She is survived by her son Jose and his wife Susan from Virginia, daughter Sandra (Gaye) and her husband Peter Carey from Georgia, sons Ron and Paul from Connecticut, daughter Kathleen and her husband Dr. Gerry Dumapit from NJ, son Ray and his wife Sharon from Pennsylvania, son Sid and his wife Maricor from NJ, and son Kevin and his wife Rowena from NY; her grandchildren Katherine, Peter, Fran, Maggie, Ryan, Kristen, Vance, Justine, Caroline, Karen, Rachel, Francis, Kenneth; and great-grandchildren Mia and Kaiya. Also surviving are her sisters Rosario, Virginia, Amparo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
