Obituary of John F. O'Rourke
John F. O'Rourke, age 88, died on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Runnell's Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights. He was born in Newark and had moved to Edison in 1950 before moving to Warren in 1962.
John worked as a sheet metal worker and Staff Engineer for Foster-Wheeler for 21 years before retiring in 1988. He was very dedicated to taking care of his wife, Margaret, who suffered from a long-term illness.
He served in the CBI Theater in United States Army Air Corp during World War II.
He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret O'Rourke in 2002 and his sister, Alice Cunningham of Charleston, SC.
Surviving are his son; John M. O'Rourke of Glen Gardner, NJ and his daughter, Peggy O'Rourke of North Plainfield; his sisters, Dorothy Rowe of Warren, Patricia Foelsch of Long Island and Joan Caddell of Charleston, SC, his grandchildren; Patrick O'Rourke and Kelly Hawthorne; great-grandchildren, Luke, Claire, Erica and Madison Hawthorne, Kaitlyn and Emily O'Rourke.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung followed by interment at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
