Obituary of Joseph L. Comune

Joseph L. Comune, aged 82, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was born and raised in Plainfield, where he resided until his marriage. After marrying, he moved to Middlesex. Joe also owned a vacation home in Normandy Shores, where he spent many summers with family and friends.

Prior to his retirement in 1986, Mr. Comune worked as a general foreman for ITW Thielex Plastics in Piscataway for over 35 years. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Joe was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in Middlesex and a member of the Plainfield Eagles Club. He was also a past member of the North Plainfield Italian American Club.

Joe had a passion for golfing, fishing, and was best known for his cooking.

He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher F. Comune, in 2002, as well as a brother, Frank Comune, and a sister, Anna Mandaglio.

Surviving him are his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Donnelly Comune; two daughters, Kathleen Schubert and her husband Raymond of Manalapan, and Joanne Comune of Branchburg. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Lauren Schubert, Elisabeth Comune, and Michael Schubert.

Funeral services will be held at 9:15 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Higgins Home for Funerals, located at 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. This will be followed by a 10 am Mass of the Resurrection at Our Lady of Mount Virgin R.C. Church in Middlesex. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
