Obituary of Alexander Robert Lake
A. Robert Lake, age 73, died on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Jersey City and had lived in Menlo Park before moving to North Plainfield 47 years ago.
Mr. Lake served in the United States Air Force for four years.
Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was a Purchasing Agent for Revlon in Edison for 35 years.
Mr. Lake was a founding member of St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield where he was an usher and lector. He enjoyed reading, politics and served on the North Plainfield Borough Council, Planning Board and Parking Authority. He was a former member of the Italian American Social Club of North Plainfield and the Democratic Club of North Plainfield.
He is predeceased by his father, August Lake in 1973 and his mother, Celina Van Bossuyt Lake in 1985.
Surviving are his wife, Lena Listorti Lake; his son, Robert J. Lake of North Plainfield; his daughters, Maryann Lake of Basking Ridge and Ellen Lake Watt and her husband, Richard of Fanwood; his grandsons, Richard John Watt, Jr. and Ryan Joseph Watt; his sister-in-law, Carmen Listorti of South Plainfield and a niece, 3 nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family wishes to thank Ida, his caregiver for many years, for her kindness and compassion.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, November 14th at 9:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
