Obituary of Vincent A. Campolattano
Vincent "Jimmy" Campolattano, age 92, died on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born and raised in Plainfield, Vincent was a loving husband, father, grandfather and proud veteran of WWII. He served in the Army Air Forces under General Chenault with the Flying Tigers in Central Burma, China and India. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with Oak Leaf Cluster and Good Conduct Medal.
After completing his Military service he returned to Plainfield where he met and married his wife, Anne. They were together for 63 years until her passing in 2010.
A successful businessman, he operated the popular Capri Hair Stylists which was one of two stores he built and owned in Plainfield. He and Anne relocated to Hillsborough where he enjoyed the last years of his career as a manager of the beauty salon at the Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead, before beginning a long, happy retirement.
Surviving are his children; Michael Campolattano and his wife, Mary of Ringoes, Linda Hagon and her husband, Robert of Milford and Annette Wilson and her husband, John of Clark; his five grandchildren, Matt, Ken, Lee Anne, Samantha and Kimberly; and his sisters, Lois Henderson and Jenny Vandergriff.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield, followed by the Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
