Obituary of Joshua A. Plaut
Joshua Andrew Plaut, 42, of Brooklyn, NY, died November 22 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, after succumbing to complications resulting from a snowstorm-related accident that occurred October 29 in Summit, NJ. Sharp, funny and unwaveringly loyal, Mr. Plaut was an associate in the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in their New York office. He also previously worked at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York. He clerked for the Honorable Robert W. Sweet of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Plaut was born on July 18, 1969. He was raised in Summit, NJ, where he graduated from the public schools and excelled at lacrosse. At Yale University he majored in English, played lacrosse and graduated cum laude in 1991. He also served as managing editor of The New Journal, a current events magazine.
He graduated from Columbia Law School in 2003 and was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and editor-in-chief of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law. He was named a New York Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine in 2011.
Mr. Plaut was an avid runner who completed three marathons, including the New York Marathon.
He is survived by his wife Leonore (Lena) Kim; his parents, Anne and Jonathan Plaut, of Summit, NJ; two brothers, David Lawrence Plaut, of Austin, TX and Jeffrey Benjamin Plaut, of Montclair, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Jane Webre, of Austin, TX and Amy Karas Plaut, of Montclair, NJ; and four nephews and a niece.
