Obituary of Edmund R. Coohill

Edmund R. Coohill, age 76, died on Monday, November 28, 2011, at his home in North Plainfield. He was born in Brooklyn, lived in Staten Island for 18 years and in North Plainfield for 26 years. Mr. Coohill served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957. He was a Cargo Claims Adjuster for Bigham, Englar, Jones & Houston in New York for 15 years and belonged to the Maritime Law Association. Mr. Coohill was a Communicant of St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Plainfield. He was a past member of St. Joseph & St. Thomas Church in Staten Island and their men's club. He enjoyed reading, bowling, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Coohill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Wick Coohill; his son, Edmund Coohill (and his wife, Laura) of Paramus; his daughters, Kimberly Coohill of Sea Bright, Karen Benevento (and her husband, Brian) of Staten Island, Lisa Coohill, M.D. (and her husband, Michael Walsh) of Summit and Patti Coohill (and her fianc, Brian Zeitler), of North Plainfield; his brothers, Dr. Thomas Coohill (and his wife, Dr. Patricia Trutty-Coohill), and Kevin Coohill (and his wife, Ida) and his sisters, Joan Duggan and Virginia Quain. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kristen, Shannon (and her husband, John Holowach), Liam, Daniel, Ryan, Kasey and Sarah. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, December 3, at 8:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Plainfield. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Friday, December 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m
