Obituary of Grace Thomas

Scotch Plains: Grace Thomas passed away on Saturday December 31, 2011 at her home in Scotch Plains. Born in Bayonne NJ, Mrs. Thomas had resided in Scotch Plains for over 60 years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains. Mrs. Thomas was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She was an excellent cook and baker but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband Kenneth Russell Thomas in 1977; a son Kenneth Russell Thomas Jr. in 1954 and a daughter Patricia Thomas in 2006. She is survived by a son Brian Thomas and his wife Sharon of Hampton NJ; two daughters Wendy Thomas of Scotch Plains and Linda Laing of FL; a sister Mary Poretto of S.C. She is also survived by nine grand children and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday January 4, 2011 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ with a 10:30 am Mass of the Resurrection to follow at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains. The interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington NJ. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
