Frances Longo

Obituary of Frances Rose Longo

Frances "Sis" Longo (nee Cramer) entered into eternal life on January 1, 2012, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Martinsville, she was predeceased by her husband James, her parents Amelia & Frank Cramer, her brother, John and just recently her daughter-in-law Marjorie Longo. Sis was a woman of strength and devotion, both to God and her family. A communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church today, she and her mother Amelia had chartered for the establishment of Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville in the 1950's. In the early days when Washington Valley Road was just a dirt road, she and her mother would be busy making sandwiches and pies for the workers in the area who came as far as Johns-Manville for a delicious homemade meal. Continuing her zest for life and building friendships, Sis was a player in the Martinsville Drama Club, a member of the Martinsville Community Club, a member of the Tri-County Senior Dancers, the Bridgewater Senior Citizens and past Brownie Leader. Sis also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, James to Europe, the Caribbean and South Africa. With her love of family, a tradition that carries on to this day is the Sunday dinner that gathered family and friends for sharing of food and talk, as Sis' place was a home that all were welcomed young, old or anyone in between. She will be sadly missed by her loving children James, "Chip" Longo, Nicholas Longo, and Frances Russo of Martinsville, grandchildren, Carmen Longo and Michelle "Missy" & Pete Chase and great-grandchildren Skylar and Sean and many family and friends. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 6th, at 11:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by interment at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Warren. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. To send condolences go to www.higginsfuneralhome.com
