Obituary of Marie Palumbo

Marie Palumbo, age 77, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She was born in Plainfield and spent many years in Scotch Plains where she raised her family. Mrs. Palumbo had a long association with Muhlenberg Hospital. She was employed there for many years; it was where she met her beloved husband, Nick; she was an active member of the Women's Auxillary and continued to volunteer there until the hospital closed. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Vito N.(Nick) Palumbo in 1983. Surviving are her sons, Michael Palumbo and his wife Margaret of Cranford and Joseph Palumbo and his wife, Linda of Berkeley Heights; her daughter, Maria Fitzgerald and her husband, Bob of Redding, CT and her brothers, Michael DeLucca and Tony DeLucca. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Jakob, Alec, Danielle, Stephen and Janel. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, January 28th at 8:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at the Church of the Little Flower, Berkeley Heights. Interment will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
