Obituary of Jack Gene Harwick

Jack Gene Harwick, 85, of Ellenton, FL, and formerly of Warren, NJ and Orwigsburg, PA died on January 29, 2012. Jack was born on September 2, 1926 in Marysville, KS to Vernon and Emma Harwick. He spent his childhood on the family farm with his two siblings, Yvonne and Rex, and at the age of 17, Jack joined the U.S. Marine Corps to serve in World War II. He served actively & distinguishably in the Pacific theater. Upon returning from the war, Jack attended Wichita State and Kansas State University to become a Certified Public Accountant. He began his career with Price Water House in Kansas City, transferred to Puerto Rico and went on to become VP of International Auditing for Cheeseboro Ponds, Treasurer of CR Bard Inc. and Chief Financial Officer at IMS International based in London England. In addition to his professional successes, Jack was a world-class trap and sheet shooter and was a recognized judge for several Olympics and World Cup events. Jack married to Bernice For 37 years until her untimely death in 1987. They were blessed with four children: George, Renee, Clifford and Wade. The family spent 7 years in Puerto Rico in the later part of the 1950's and then moved to Warren, NJ where they became active members of the community and Our Lady of the Mount church. They resided in Warren for many years until 1988 when Jack relocated to Orwigsburg, PA and became actively involved in both the community and trap & skeet clubs. Jack is survived by his three sons, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The viewing will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung NJ on Saturday, February 4, 2012, from 10:00am - 12:00pm with a 12noon funeral service. Immediately following the service, Jack will be buried next to Bernice at Mt. Bethel Cemetery.
