Obituary of Gertrude Dempsey

Gertrude Dempsey, age 93, died on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at her home in North Plainfield. Born in Sewaren, Mrs. Dempsey lived in North Plainfield for 60 years. She was a graduate of Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center Nursing School in Plainfield. Mrs. Dempsey was a private duty nurse and a supervisor at John E. Runnell's Hospital in Berkeley Heights for 20 years. Mrs. Dempsey is predeceased by her husband, Ralph in 1991. Surviving are her sons, Glenn and his wife, Susan, Barrie and his wife, Shannon, Dean and his wife, Maria and Wayne and his wife, Debbie Dempsey. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brian, Kelly and Alex and her great grand son, Sean Christopher Dempsey. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 4:30 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Cremation is private. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 to 4:30 pm.
