Scotch Plains: Barbara A. (Bloink) Manahan, age 58, died peacefully on March 3, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL., she was raised in Elizabeth and later lived in Scotch Plains. Barbara graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in 1976, a MS in 1978 and a JD in 1985. She was a partner with Wolff & Samson's in West Orange working in their Real Estate, Development and Land Use Grp. Barbara was a member of the NJ Bar, United States Court of Appeals, US District Court, District of NJ and was past president of the Summit Bar Association and a former investigator and member of the District XII Ethics Committee for Union County. She was a member of the American Bar Association, NJ State Bar Association and the NJ Women Lawyers Association. In her spare time she enjoyed running, swimming, her dogs Charlee and Mercedes and loved spending time with her family. Predeceased by her father Hans R. Bloink, MD in 2009, and her mother Mildred V. Bloink, MD in 1984. Surviving is her husband The Honorable Thomas V. Manahan; her children Lisa Cadigan-Vaughn and her husband Alex and Meghan Ann Cadigan; stepchildren Sean, Matthew and Karen Manahan; stepmother Marilyn Bloink; siblings Robin Bloink Ventura, Esq. and her husband Michael Ventura, Esq., Hans Bloink, Jr., and his wife Beth, James Bloink and his wife Liz, Donna Bloink, Kristan Bloink Gottmann and her husband Steve H. Gottmann, Esq. and Heidi Bloink Alport and her husband Robert; grandchild Noah Cadigan-Deutsch. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:45 am on Wednesday, March 7th, at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Helen's RC Church in Westfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
