Obituary of Eugenia H. Young
Eugenia Harold Young, age (99) passed away on September 16, 2013. She was born in Limerick, Ireland on November 10, 1913. Eugenia came to the United States with her grandmother in 1919 and resided with an aunt and uncle in Newark, NJ. She attended St. Vincent's Academy, Newark, NJ and graduated from Panzer College of Physical Education in East Orange NJ.
In June, 1939, Eugenia married Clifford A. Young. They were married for over 55 years making their home in Plainfield, NJ for over 25 years. Eugenia was an accomplished seamstress and loved to play golf and bowl. While living in Plainfield, Eugenia was very active in the Catholic Women's Club, serving a term as its president, and the Altar Rosary Society of Saint Mary Roman Catholic. In 1970 Eugenia and Clifford retired to Lavallette, NJ and later to Brick, NJ. Mrs. Young became a resident at the McAuley Hall Health Care Center in, 2006.
Eugenia is predeceased by her husband Clifford (1994), her grandson Craig King (1996) and son in law Philip King (1997). She is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen King of Bernard's Township, NJ, Margaret Shaw of Cedar Knolls, NJ and Mary Andersen of Williamsburg, Va., and their husbands and one son Clifford J. of Vernon Hills, Il. , 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the McAuley Hall Health Care Center on Friday, September 20, 2013 between 9 and 11AM. Mass will be celebrated at the Siena Chapel at McAuley Hall Health Care Center (1633 US 22, Watchung, NJ) at 11AM on Friday September 20, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ in her name. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals.
