Obituary of Harvey F Schiffer

Harvey F. Schiffer, age 85, died on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Hospice of Palm Beach in West Palm Beach, Florida. Harvey was born in New York City, lived in Plainfield, NJ, and later lived in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Mr. Schiffer was a sports writer for the NCAA, and later President of the Wearever Shirt Company. He was a dedicated golfer, great friend and family man with a wry sense of humor. He was a man of keen intellect, warmth, sensitivity and was respected and loved by all. Predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Fieldston. Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth Schiffer; children, Mark Schiffer (Stephanie Gertler), Joan Levinson (Les Levinson); grandfather of David, Elyena (Lawrence Brotherton), Benjamin, Dana and Cara. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains, NJ, followed by the interment at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Flushing, NY.
