Neshanic Station: Gilbert "Gil" Kaufmann, age 86, died on Friday September 20, 2013 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Newark Mr. Kaufmann had resided there until moving to Neshanic Station in 1972.
Mr. Kaufmann is a Veteran of the United States Army 28th Division having served during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement Mr. Kaufmann worked as a dental technician for the Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons NJ.
He was an avid bowler and had bowled for many years in the Lyons VA bowling league. He also enjoyed gardening and trips to Atlantic City.
He is predeceased by his wife Lillian "Lil" Kaufmann and his two brothers Fred and Max Kaufmann.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nices and great nephews. He is also survived by his loving friends Gloria Westervelt, Pat Kemp and Wanda Tatowicz.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 24, 2013 from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ followed by an 11:00 am funeral service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Newark.
