Obituary of Adrienne Blaustein

Adrienne (Keltch) Blaustein, 83, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey. Adrienne was born December 30, 1928, in the Bronx, New York to Benjamin and Shirley Keltch. A brilliant student, she was accepted as one of the first women to attend The City College of New York. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and after graduating, with honors, received one of the top scores on the NYC Teacher Placement Exams. She began teaching third grade at P.S. 20 in the Bronx, where she herself had attended elementary school. After tenure, she was promoted to the coveted position of Teacher Leader. Adrienne married Marvin (Lee) Blaustein in 1951, and later moved to South Plainfield, New Jersey, where the family still resides. Adrienne and Lee raised three daughters and one son. Adrienne was an active member and former President of the Plainfield Chapter of Deborah Hospital, where she directed and wrote special fund-raising shows for the local chapter events. Adrienne, a dynamic and dedicated teacher, taught for a short time as a supplemental basic skills teacher at Quibbletown Middle School in Piscataway, New Jersey. She later followed with a successful career of more than ten years, until her retirement, as Senior Certified Property and Casualty Trainer of Prudential Insurance Company of Central/Northern New Jersey. Adrienne loved life to the fullest, and cherished the wonderful memories of times she spent with family and friends throughout the years. Adrienne and Lee enjoyed folk dancing, country line dancing and time in the Catskills with their close-knit circle of friends, who also shared their passion for music and dance. Adrienne is predeceased by her loving parents, Benjamin and Shirley Keltch, and sweet niece Lori (Abramowitz) Tobin. Adrienne is survived by her devoted husband of over sixty-one years, Lee Blaustein; daughters, Karen Dolci, Elyne Foscolo, and Bonnie Blaustein; and son, Neil Blaustein. Adrienne will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren John, Melanie, and Tina Foscolo; Benjamin and Evan Dolci; and her two sons-in-law John Foscolo and Tony Dolci; sister Florinne Abramowitz and niece Nancy Abramowitz. Adrienne will be remembered with love and fond memories by her dear friends Ruth and John Goldstein. A funeral service will be held at the Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, New Jersey, on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by the processional to Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
