Obituary of William D. Keating

William D. Keating, age 70, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at his home. He was born and raised in Summit and was a lifelong Warren resident. Prior to his retirement in 1997, he was a Maintenance Worker for Ciba Geigy in Summit for 40 years. Mr. Keating was a member of the Warren Special Police and the Warren Township Fire Dept. where he served as Lieutenant. He was one of 3 originators of Santa Claus, Rudolph and Frosty on the fire truck at Christmas time for local children. He cherished his role playing Rudolph. He was an avid race fan and the owner of local race cars and many items of racing memorabilia. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping. Most of all he loved spending time with his family especially at Sunday dinners. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Dorothy (Tyrone) Keating; his son Kevin Keating and his wife, Dana; his daughter, Kim Adriaanse and her husband, Dirk (Butch); his brothers Robert Keating and his wife, Kay and Martin Keating and his wife, Barbara; his sister, Nancy Allocco and her husband, Larry; his grandchildren, Trevor and Spencer Adriaanse and C.J. and Cory Keating. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Teenie. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 1-3 and 5-7 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Entombment is private.
