Obituary of Richard S. Saunders

Richard S. Saunders, 76, of Somerset passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2012 in Berkeley Heights. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 12 noon at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin. Mr. Saunders, a graduate of Rutgers University, was a Certified Public Accountant for more than fifty years, with offices in Clark and Cranford. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War as part of the peace keeping forces, stationed for two years in Germany. A member of Temple Sholom in Scotch Plains, Dick served several years as the congregation's treasurer. An avid traveler, he also had a great love of the theater, supporting many local community theater groups. Having grown up in Linden, Mr. Saunders resided in Scotch Plains and Somerset. Mr. Saunders was predeceased by his parents, Frieda and Daniel Saunders and his brothers, Billy and Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Susan (nee Dinnerman), daughters, Dana Brenner of Fanwood, Abby Saunders of Westfield, Lori Jeremias of Scotch Plains; sons, Russell of Park Ridge and Robert of Westfield and nine grandchildren.
