Obituary of Katherine M. Geller
Retired educator Katherine M. Geller, formerly of Trenton and Ewing Township, died Monday at McAuley Hall Health Center, Watchung. She was 90.
Born and raised in Trenton, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgian Court University, Lakewood, and a master's degree from Villanova (Pa.) University. She also pursued a doctorate at New York University and attended Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and Dayton (Ohio) University.
Katherine served as principal of St. Nicholas School, Atlantic City; Saint Paul's School, Princeton; and Kuser and Laylor elementary schools, Hamilton Township. She also served as vice principal of Reynolds Middle School, Hamilton Township. A life member of the Kuser Elementary School PTA, Katherine also was a member of the Hamilton Township Teachers' Association, Hamilton Township Administrators' Association, and the Trenton Business and Professional Women's Association. She belonged to the National Education Association and the New Jersey Retired Educator's Association.
Katherine is the daughter of the late A. Russell and Mary Katherine Geller and the sister of the late Richard J. Geller. She is survived by two nephews, Richard Geller (Jean), Fresno, Calif., and Jeffrey Geller (Barbara), Sea Girt; a niece, Lisa Geller Schaad (Robert), Medford; five great nieces; a great-great niece and a great-great nephew; and four cousins: Karen Brisson (Charlie), Hamilton Square; Jimmy Jones, Levittown, Pa.; Brian Jones, Martinsburg, WV; and Patricia Jones, Waretown. She also is survived by her friend of 60 years, Sr. Louise Gorka, of Mays Landing.
Katherine's family is grateful for the exceptional care she received from the compassionate nursing staff at McAuley Hall Health Center for nearly six years. She was treated with kindness and respect by everyone she encountered at McAuley Hall.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena, McAuley Hall Health Care Center, 1633 Highway 22, Watchung followed by an 11:45 a.m. Mass of Resurrection.
