Obituary of Ruth L. Gilbert

Ruth Louise (Marsh) Gilbert was born in Plainfield, NJ on November 18, 1931. She married Robert V. Skove her first husband in 1950. They raised six children starting in Plainfield, NJ. Homes followed in Green Brook, NJ, Martinsville, NJ, Hampton, NJ and Quakertown, NJ. Ruth worked as a NJ Bell telephone operator for ten years. After Ruth and Robert Skove retired in Sebastian FL in 1990, they loved to travel. National Parks of the West were among favorite places to spend time. Ruth loved wildlife, pets and nature. After her husband Robert passed away in 2000, she remarried Edward H. Gilbert in 2002 and spent thirteen wonderful years in Warren, NJ before passing away peacefully in her home on May 25, 2015. Predeceased by her first husband Robert V. Skove and her parents Roderick Marsh and Rosella Lawrence Marsh and her daughter Kathy Baron of Easton, PA. Survived by her husband Edward H. Gilbert; her children Robert Skove of Annapolis, MD, Susan Feller of Warren Glen, NJ, Eric Skove of Hampton, NJ, Peter Skove of Stockton, NJ and Carl Skove of Phillipsburg, NJ; grandchildren Larry, Nicholas and Natasha Ingram, Kirsten Baker, Bradford Skove, Emily Brettel; great-grandchildren Adam Baker, Lily Brettel and Selah Ingram; sisters Mary Harrell of Somerville, NJ and Joan Chestnut of Littleton, CO. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 1st, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.
