Obituary of Salvatore M. Cannavo

Salvatore M. Cannavo, age 84, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. He was born and raised in Staten Island and had lived in South Plainfield before moving to Warren 18 years ago. Prior to his retirement, he was the President of LA Dreyfus Company in Edison. Mr. Cannavo was a Communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He started a Rosary Society and sent rosaries to men and women serving in the military. He loved spending time with his family. He is predeceased by his brother, Frank Cannavo and his great-granddaughter, Simone Calise. Mr. Cannavo is survived by his wife, Rose Massetti Cannavo; his son, Michael Cannavo and his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Diane McCarthy and her husband, Dennis; his sister, Frances Jonason; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Alison, Meghan, Margaux and Matthew. He is also survived by his 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Friday, October 11th at 9:00 am at Higgins Home for funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
