Obituary of Robert J. Rubin
Robert Jay Rubin, MD age 87, died on Monday December 21, 2015 at J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison. Born in Brooklyn, he had resided in Plainfield before moving to Watchung 40 years ago.
Robert graduated from Gettysburg College in 1948 with a BA. He attended Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia graduating in 1953. He did his residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NY and Philadelphia General Hospital.
Dr. Rubin was Chief of Surgery at JFK Medical Center for many years. He also was a clinical professor of surgery at RWJ Medical School and was co-director of the residency training program in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Rubin was on staff for many years at Muhlenberg Hospital, RWJ University Hospital and JFK Hospital
Robert served in the US Navy from 1955-1957.
Surviving is his wife Lillian (Garshofsky) Rubin; his sons Mark Rubin and his wife Jennifer, Mitch Kunzman and his wife Jen and Douglas Kunzman and his wife Lexy; his daughter Lisa Cherepon and her husband Bill and 5 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on January 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.
