Obituary of William Joseph Bird

Orwigsburg, PA: William J. Bird, age 71, died on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at his home. He was raised in North Plainfield where he graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1963. He lived in Orwigsburg, PA since 1972. Prior to his retirement in 2008, Mr. Bird was a Receiving Manager for Precision Air in Auburn, PA for 18.5 years. He enjoyed gardening, sports, the beach and history but his family was always number 1 for him. Mr. Bird is survived by his wife of 51 and ½ years, Janice (Sharkey) Bird; his son, Bill Bird, Jr. and his wife, Helene of Hightstown; his brother, Bruce Bird and his wife, Marilyn of Largo, FL; his brother-in-law, Richard Sharkey and his wife, Phoebe and his grandson, Jonathan. He is also survived by 2 nieces, a great niece and a great-great niece and several loving friends. Visitation will be on Monday, February 1st from 4 to 8 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, D.C. 20090-6929.
