Aristide Charles DeTorres
Warren: Aristide Charles DeTorres, age 87, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2015. He was born in New York City, spent his childhood in City Island and had lived in Warren Township for many years.
Mr. DeTorres served with the United States Merchant Marines during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he worked in the computer department of American Can Company and Union Carbide before starting his own computer service business.
Mr. DeTorres was a Communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
He played racquetball at the Warren Racquet Club with a group of friends who called themselves "The Morning Maniacs". He was a coach for his children's baseball teams in the Warren Township Little League. He enjoyed dancing and volunteered at the Matheny School and the Warren Township EMS.
Mr. DeTorres is predeceased by his daughter, Deborah and his son, Michael.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Rose DeTorres; his son, Chuck DeTorres of Warren; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Mary DeTorres of Warren; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kim DeTorres of Saylorsburg, PA; his daughters, Karen DeTorres and her partner, Guthrie Packard of Gold Canyon, AZ and Rosanne DeTorres and her partner Beth Gustofson of High Bridge, NJ; 12 grandchildren, Aristide, Andrew, Anthony, Stephen, William, Chelsea, Angela, Tomi Jane, Ann Marie, Cody, Emelia and Arielle and one great-grandchild, Logan.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 8th from 2 - 4 and 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge.
