Obituary of Claire Louise Lombardi

Claire Lombardi died on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was born in Plainfield and resided there until 1995, when she moved to Piscataway. Mrs. Lombardi was the daughter of the late Patrick and Helena (Coyne) Burke. She graduated from Plainfield High School and was a member of the Class of 1956. Mrs. Lombardi was employed by Macy's East Division of Federated Department Stores. She began her career with Macy's as an Executive Secretary in 1956 at the former Bamberger's Store in Plainfield and in 1970 transferred to the Macy's Store in East Brunswick. She retired in 2001 after 45 years of service. She was a Communicant of St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka Church of Plainfield since 1959 and a participant in the Prayer Shawl Ministry during her retirement. Surviving are her God-daughter, Sharon Testa Smith of Pennsylvania, dear friend, Kathy Testa of Pennsylvania and Kathy's children, Sharon, Kathy Testa-Cadmus of Pennsylvania and Frederic Testa of Piscataway. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, April 2nd at 9 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am funeral Mass at St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
