Obituary of Jacob Scovronek

Edison: Jacob “Jay” Scovronek, age 101, died on April 2, 2016 at his home in Edison. Mr. Scovronek was born on September 16, 1914 in Passaic and had moved to South Plainfield in 1970 and had resided in Edsion for the past 5 years. He was a graduate of Passaic High School class of 1932 and had received a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State College in 1936. Prior to his retirement Mr. Scovronek was a manager of Quality Control and Reliability in the electronics industry for many years. Mr. Scovronek served for over three years in the United States Army Air Corps having been stationed for two years in England and Germany in part of the Signal Corps division. He was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 10 in Passaic for 25 years. He was also a member of Temple Sholom of Fanwood and enjoyed staying active at the JCC of Middlesex County in Edison. He founded and was an active member of the B’nai B’rith TriCounty Lodge. Mr. Scovronek was also a member of the Environmental Commission for over 15 years. He enjoyed playing tennis until his 80’s and taught canoeing for several years at boys camp at Milford, PA. Mr. Scovronek had a real love of nature and gardening; he had given hundreds of plants away at the South Plainfield Library and the JCC in Edison and had also established and maintained the Nature Trail at Veteran’s Park. He was engaged in sending emails daily from his computer. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of over 40 years Irene; his sister Ida Lindheim and two brothers Joseph Scovronek and Dr. Louis Scovern. He is survived by a daughter Rachel Morgan of Middlesex; a son Frank Scovronek of FL; grandchildren Tiffany Summonte and her husband Nicholas, Michael Morgan, Zachary and Jake Scovronek; three great grandchildren Dominick,Talon and Avery Summonte. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:30AM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung NJ07069. Followed by an interment at Beth-El Cemetery in Paramus.
