Obituary of Filomena Maraia

Filomena (Stoia) Maraia, age 89, died on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Abingdon Care & Rehabilitation Center in Green Brook. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Argentina, she lived in Italy for many years before moving to the United States and residing in North Plainfield for over thirty years. Filomena was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. In her spare time she was an avid reader, and enjoyed walking, knitting and cooking. Filomena was a communicant of St. Luke's RC Church in North Plainfield. Predeceased by her husband Frank Maraia. Surviving are her son John Maraia; her daughter Antoinetta Pietrucha and her husband Roger; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Luke's RC Church, North Plainfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Plainfield.
