Obituary of Willie Breauxsaus
Willie R. Breauxsaus, born February 6, 1959 in Greenville, Mississippi departed this life on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Medellin, Columbia. The son of the late Willie James Breauxsaus, Jr. and Hattie B. Breauxsaus, Willie was the product of a close-knit and loving family. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood with sibling Kenny Breauxsaus who preceded him in death. His siblings Donnie (Sherry) and Debbie Ward (Jerome) of Greenville, MS, Ronnie, Larry, Regina, Michael (Lolita), Terry (Daphne) all of Minneapolis, MN survive him. Willie is survived by his loving wife Yvonne children Corey and Courtney and Grandson Zymir Emanuel Davila; mother Hattie B. Breauxsaus. He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews' cousins and extended family members whom he loved dearly.
Willie graduated from Greenville, MS in 1978, where he was listed as the schools outstanding all around best athlete. He signed a football scholarship with Alcorn State University in 1978 with his father by his side. Willie transferred to Mississippi Valley State University in 1980 where he majored in Vocational Industrial Education. Willie was part of the outstanding 1984 Delta Devils Football team.
After college Willie became a member of the Greenwood Fire Department in 1985 until his retirement in August of 1996. Willie worked with the Greenwood Public School System during his time with the fire department as a substitute teacher on his off days. He also served with the Greenwood Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer from 1993 to 1995. He relocated his family to Plainfield, NJ in 1996 to help with his cancer stricken father-in-law.
Willie secured employment as a Store Manager with Burger King Corp in 1996 before starting work with William Paterson University as an Offensive Coach. He began working with Paterson Public Schools at the infamous East Side High School as a Security Officer in September of 1998. Willie served as a Football Coach at various schools Kennedy High School, Passaic Valley Regional High School, Kean University as well as Plainfield High School.
Willie resigned from coaching football in 2010 when his grandson Zymir was born. He wanted to commit his spare time to raising his grandson. Willie loved the children in the community and was committed to ensuring students understood the importance of getting an education and becoming a student athlete at any time he could.
Willie enjoyed golfing besides coaching. He was passionate about his family and work. He enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who put a smile on your face.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2016 from 3 pm to 6 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St. Plainfield NJ.
