Obituary of Irving Magid

Irving Magid, born on August 31, 1924 in the Bronx, NY, died peacefully with his dear friend and long-time companion Barbara Schneider at his side, on May 20, 2016. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Esther Magid. His wife Claire, two sisters, and a brother also predeceased him. Irving was an especially kind and gentle person who was proud to be affiliated with the Washington Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Warren, NJ for over 65 years, including Fire Chief in the early 1960's. After leaving his family business in Warren, he worked for many years at Lucent Technologies (formerly Bell Labs). In addition to Barbara, Irving is survived by his two children, Arnold S. Magid (Carol) of Suffield, CT and Bruce S. Magid (Elaine) of Solon ME. Friends and family have been invited to gather at 10:00am on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069 prior to an 11:00 am funeral service. The interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge NJ. Memorial donations may be made in Irving's memory to the Washington Valley Volunteer Fire Company 146 Washington Valley Rd.
