Obituary of Doris J. Sieczka

Doris J. Sieczka, 87, of Basking Ridge, N.J. passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Doris was born on May 19, 1929 and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., graduating from St. Mary's. She devoted herself to family and friends and cherished her time with them. Doris worked as a valuable library assistant in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood school system and was honored at her retirement. Her passions included travel, having cruised the Rhine in Nov. of 2015, reading, attending Theater on Broadway, politics and the Jersey Shore. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mount, an active participant in the Spring Ridge Social Club and enjoyed her card groups. Doris was predeceased by Joseph her husband of 50 years and her parents Walter and Josephine. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Michael) of Wading River, N.Y., Debra of Elizabeth, N.J., Wendy (Howard) of Charlotte, VT, Valerie of Basking Ridge, N.J., and son Paul (Ann-Marie) of Berkeley Heights, N.J. Grandchildren Haleigh of Salt Lake City, UT, Shannon, Andrew, and Lily of Berkeley Heights, N.J., Sister Jane (Don) of Maui, HI and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Doris's life will include a visitation on Thursday, June 9th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, N.J. A funeral mass will be held Friday, June 10th at 10:30 am at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount, Mt. Bethel Rd., Warren, N.J. Internment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia, N.J. Her sense of humor, keen intellect and matriarchal role will be sorely missed.
